Here are some tips on living with Alzheimer’s disease for Week Two:

🧠 Challenge your brain:

Exercise your brain daily. Our minds need to be stimulated and kept active in order to slow the progression of the disease into later stages. Cross-train your brain to learn something new or improve a skill that you are not good at. This will give your mind some flexibility. Exercises such as crosswords puzzles, sudoku and word-search help.

🧠 Eat a healthy diet:

Healthy, nutritious foods help maintain brain functions and slow cognitive decline. Eating more vegetables, legumes, whole grains, nuts, fish, and incorporating olive oil helps to provide the essential nutrients. Reducing processed foods, meats, and sugars will help you in building a healthier diet.

🧠 Stay socially connected:

Connect with your community. Having an active social life reduces stress, elevates your mood, and keeps relationships strong. We might not be able to meet our loved ones in person currently, thus connecting via phone or virtually is vital.

🧠 Stay physically active:

Physical fitness has an impact on your brain. It makes you feel better, reduces stress, prevents muscle weakness, and helps maintain good health. Aim to exercise for about 150 minutes a week to help stay active and fit.
