Together for a Fairer, Healthier World
By Medha Saraiya
This year’s World Health Day’s theme is: “Together for a fairer, healthier world”.
We all deserve access to care no matter our age, ethnicity, gender and economic status. Unfortunately, these inequalities exist, within every community and region. Within our communities, we have individuals who do not have access to care due to a variety of reasons such as access to transport, language barriers, and accessibility barriers.
The current pandemic has highlighted some issues within our healthcare delivery system such as level of care received by seniors in Long-Term Care homes, and access/deliveries of vaccines to communities most at risk.
As society, we all need to work together to ensure that we are taking care of not only our physical health, but our emotional wellbeing as well. On this World Health Day, let’s aim on making our community fairer and healthier.
